What is the main function of an electric motor?
Author:
Electric machine (commonly known as "motor") refers to an electromagnetic device that converts or transmits electrical energy based on the law of electromagnetic induction. The function of an electric motor is to convert the electrical energy of the battery into mechanical energy, driving the wheels of the electric vehicle to rotate, in order to achieve the goal of continuous cycling of the electric vehicle. When the motor is working, the coil and commutator rotate, while the magnetic steel and carbon brush do not rotate. The alternating changes in the current direction of the coil are completed by the commutator and carbon brush that rotate with the motor. A brush motor has a greater force than a brushless motor, with fewer wires, just one positive and negative wire and one negative wire. If the motor rotates in reverse, it can be completed by simply adjusting the positions of the two wires. In the electric vehicle industry, brush motors are divided into high-speed brush motors and low-speed brush motors. There are many differences between brush motors and brushless motors, and a simple way to distinguish them is: brush motors have carbon brushes, while brushless motors do not have carbon brushes. But the noise of the brush motor is relatively high, and currently the brush motor has been basically eliminated. Common types of motors include: brush toothed high-speed hub motors, brush toothed low-speed hub motors, brush toothed low-speed hub motors, brush toothed high-speed hub motors, side mounted motors, etc.
